Paralegal Opportunities with VWV
At VWV we love nothing more than to see our very own Paralegals develop into our next generation of lawyers by embarking on a training contract with the firm, so twice a year we delight in celebrating with them the next part of their legal journey to becoming Solicitors and perhaps even future Partners and leaders of our firm one day.
As a result of those successes we not only have the flexibility to bring forward training contract start dates and sign off time to count qualification within 18 months, but we're also eagerly on the look-out for the next wave of Paralegals to start the talent pipeline all over again.
We anticipate having a number of Paralegal opportunities across multiple locations from March 2021 so if you're interested in an entry level legal role that can provide a genuine qualified future with our firm, then we really want to hear from you right now.
What's so great about a Paralegal role with VWV?
There's no such thing as just a Paralegal at VWV, our Paralegals play a hugely valuable role, the support they provide to our lawyers allows everyone in the team to put the client's needs at the centre of everything we do. A Paralegal role with us provides the perfect building blocks for future Trainee Solicitors looking to gain experience ahead of starting a training contract or even to assist with applications for training contracts themselves and that's due to the variety of legal disciplines you'll be exposed to.
Let us give you a flavour of what to expect; you'll be drafting documents, maintaining Lexcel compliant files, assisting with client correspondence and reports plus conducting legal research. You'll become familiar with the firm's case management system and compliance procedures for letters of engagement, file opening, money laundering, archiving, billing and client accounts. And that's not all, you'll also be able to brush-up on those all-important client facing skills with direct exposure to our clients.
Why choose us?
Your time as a Paralegal counts towards your overall assessment score for a training contract and your supervisor can write a recommendation to support your application. And what could be better than surrounding yourself by those that have succeeded previously and can give advice on those all-important tips to help you stand out.
We offer a competitive salary, holiday allowance that increases after 12 months with the firm, contribute to your pension pot, have an informal dress code which allows you to dress appropriately for your day no matter what day it is, give you private healthcare and life assurance, as well as offering a range of discounts with local businesses and with so many excellent internal training programmes on offer to everyone it's so easy to develop and improve your skills.
For safety at this time all our people are working remotely, though everyone is looking forward to getting back to the office where our lovely culture is clear to see. We work hard but we also have fun and we're missing that social interaction with each other that really embeds our culture. That said, we have video meeting capability so we can still stay in contact as much as possible. This unusual time has proved we can work effectively as a business from home if needs be, so whilst we don't yet know how things will look when we return to our offices, what we do know now, is we can discuss the individual flexible needs for every employee and team without agility barriers. Watch the video for what our people have to say about us.
We’re passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity, we're striving to create an environment where everyone, regardless of background, can reach their full potential.
So who are we hoping will get in touch?
You'll have some form of legal qualification, whether that be a Law degree/GDL or CILEx qualification and you may have started, or even completed, your LPC already and whilst any previous paralegal experience you have is sure to help you transition more easily, your lack of paralegal experience will not hold you back as it's the soft skills below which are much more of interest.
You're sure to be busy so you'll need to be organised, an excellent all-round communicator, have proficient IT skills using Microsoft Office and definitely someone who's motivated by their team's successes ahead of their own. And whilst there's no doubt that time spent in a commercial law firm of this size will naturally enhance your commercial acumen, we love to see applications from those whose commercial awareness is instinctive so if that's you, then don't wait for a vacancy, let's start talking now.
That all sounds great so what happens now?
At this stage, all we need is a CV and short cover letter explaining which office location you are interested in and from when you will be available to work full time and as soon as we have a Paralegal role near you, we'll be in touch.
