Our Residential Conveyancing Team are on hand to guide clients through the conveyancing process from start to finish for all different types of properties including freehold, leasehold, new build, listed, flats and houses. Their ability to identify and advise on any pitfalls teamed with their understanding of the impact moving home can have on families ensures they deliver an excellent all-round client experience.
Realising the valued role that paralegals play in the above delivery, our Head of Residential Conveyancing Jackie Roe is looking to recruit a full time Paralegal to join the team. The role is to support the London and Watford team but due to remote working options the applicants location is flexible with the option of either our Bristol, Watford or London office as a base.
Is this your next career move?
A paralegal role at VWV provides the perfect building blocks for future trainee solicitors looking to gain experience ahead of starting a training contract or even to assist with applications for training contracts themselves and that's due to the variety of legal disciplines you'll be exposed to. We're proud of our record in transitioning a good proportion of our existing paralegals into trainee solicitors.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge of not just residential conveyancing but also staircasing of shared ownership properties and leasehold enfranchisement matters as with guidance from a qualified solicitor you'll be responsible for not just the opening of client files but also the day to day running of them as well as assisting with drafting client correspondence and reports. Your role will be of paramount importance as you progress and follow up on time critical exchanges and/or completions. Using the firm's case management system you'll become familiar with compliance procedures for letters of engagement, file opening, money laundering, archiving, billing and client accounts.
Why choose us?
With around 450 employees we're a sizeable firm that still continues to grow, known for its friendly and welcoming culture where team work and collaboration is key, watch this short video to see what our people have to say about us.
For safety at this time our people are working remotely, though everyone is looking forward to getting back to the office at least part time, where our lovely culture is clear to see. We work hard but we also have fun and we're missing that social interaction with each other that really embeds our culture. That said, we have video meeting capability so we can still stay in contact as much as possible. This unusual time has proved we can work effectively as a business from home if needs be, so whilst we don't yet know how things will look when we return to our offices, what we do know now, is we can discuss the individual flexible needs for every employee and team without agility barriers.
We offer a competitive salary, holiday allowance that increases after 12 months with the firm, contribute to your pension pot, have an informal dress code which allows you to dress appropriately for your day no matter what day it is, give you private healthcare and life assurance, as well as offering a range of discounts with local businesses and with so many excellent internal training programmes on offer to everyone it's so easy to develop and improve your skills.
We’re passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity, we're striving to create an environment where everyone, regardless of background, can reach their full potential.
So who are we hoping will apply?
You'll have a Law degree or have taken the Graduate Diploma in Law and perhaps even done your LPC or you may be a trainee Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer. Previous paralegal experience is beneficial and will surely help you get to grips with such a valued role.
It's a busy role so you'll be organised, an excellent all-round communicator with proficient IT skills using Microsoft Office and someone who's motivated by the team's successes ahead of their own. And whilst there's no doubt that time spent in a commercial law firm of this size will naturally enhance your commercial acumen, we love to see applications from graduates whose commercial awareness is instinctive so if that's you, then we really want to hear from you.
